Is anyone familiar with the song “I Hope You Dance” by Lee Ann Womack? If not, then YouTube it immediately. But if so, then as a mama, you know how that song makes me feel. It is, simply put, perfect.
While watching the boys recently, one of the lines in the song immediately jumped out of me: “I hope you never lose your sense of wonder….” And I realized then that I hope the boys are always so curious, that they never lose their childlike interest, that it only continues to open doors for them and expand their minds.
Soon enough they’ll learn that some people will laugh at a question they ask in school, or they’ll be made fun of at some point in their lives for some interest of theirs, but I hope and I pray that they carry on. I pray their curiousity takes them on adventures that they never dreamed possible, that it leads them to befriend people who open their hearts and their eyes to different cultures and ways of life, that they remain loving and tolerant but always interested in the lives and ways of others. I pray that when they come to face any sort of obstacle in their lives, they won’t give up, that when they’ll want to let the issue get the best of them, their curious spirit will prevail and they’ll find a way to solve the problem at hand.
How are you teaching your children to stay curious? Do you think you yourself have personally stayed curious (oh, the question to ask all of ourselves!). As always, please feel free to continue the conversation down below in the comments, and of course please print the below printable and download the desktop wallpaper (above) if you so wish. We love to see you guys loving the Wednesday Wisdom freebies!
