A Simple Thanksgiving Blessing for Your Table
Thanksgiving gives us a natural reason to gather, but gratitude can easily become another thing we rush through before the meal.
Scripture invites us to something deeper: “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.” (Psalm 107:1, NIV)
Before the plates are passed, consider giving your table one quiet minute to remember the Giver.
A Thanksgiving table blessing
Father, thank You for this food, this table, and every person gathered around it. Thank You for the gifts we noticed this year and the mercies we almost missed. Thank You for staying faithful in joyful seasons and difficult ones. Make us generous with what You have given us, attentive to those who are missing from tables today, and quick to remember that every good gift ultimately comes from You. Above all, thank You for Jesus. Amen.
A simple family tradition
Before eating, let each person name one specific gift from the past year and one person they are thankful for. Keep it simple enough that it can become a tradition rather than a performance.
