Giving has always been part of Modern Burlap. We try to notice real needs and respond with what will be useful.
For us, generosity is one practical way to love our neighbor: to see what someone is carrying, bring it before Jesus, and remind them they are not alone.

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
From 2019 through 2021, Modern Burlap donated nearly $63,000 to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. St. Jude later shared that a gift of that size could help provide more than a month of chemotherapy treatment for a child with leukemia.
NICU babies and their families
Modern Burlap has donated hundreds of swaddles, Scripture pieces and newborn essentials to NICUs and children's hospitals across the country. That includes 240 swaddles for Reading Hospital's NICU in 2017, 255 swaddles for Levine Children's Hospital during a blanket shortage in 2018, and at least 196 donated pieces for Texas Children's Hospital in 2018.
Some gifts met a hospital-wide need. Others placed something soft and meaningful beside one family during a fragile beginning.
Eve's Victory
Modern Burlap Scripture swaddles have been included in free NICU care packages sent by Eve's Victory to families across the United States. In 2023, its founders told us the partnership had already continued for five years.
Moms in the Making
From 2017 through 2024, Modern Burlap fulfilled eight donation orders for Moms in the Making, totaling 845 pieces for women walking through infertility, loss, waiting and hope.
Military mothers and families
Modern Burlap's documented support of Operation Homefront spans multiple years. We donated product valued at $2,600 plus shipping in 2017, 50 swaddles for active-duty mothers in 2019, 275 organic thermal coveralls for military families in Colorado in 2024, and 275 “Be the Change” organic swaddles for events serving families in Colorado and Washington in 2025.
Baby2Baby
In March 2020, Modern Burlap sent Baby2Baby 17 boxes containing 1,360 swaddles for families facing urgent needs during the early weeks of COVID-19.
Giving useful product another life
In 2019, Modern Burlap worked with Green City Recycler in the Houston area to keep imperfect textiles in use. More than 20 boxes containing over 1,600 pieces of organic cotton product were set aside for recycling and reuse.
Samantha still remembers learning that some imperfect textiles became filling for youth punching bags. Product we could no longer sell still became something useful for a child.
Closer to home
Modern Burlap has supported local churches, schools, CASA and child advocacy work, Boys & Girls Club programs, Little League and youth sports, 4-H, hospital efforts, fundraisers and families.
In 2021, one community effort received more than 370 pieces of clothing for adults and children. Modern Burlap also sponsored Boys & Girls Club of Austin County youth basketball teams in 2021 and 2022.
In late 2025, we donated at least 125 “Holy Spirit, you are welcome here” Scripture doormats to a local faith-based school after someone asked and we had something useful to give.
How we decide where to help
We look for specific, verifiable needs where products, financial support or a continuing partnership can be useful. We consider who will be served, timing, available inventory and what Modern Burlap can responsibly sustain.
We cannot fulfill every request, but we review each one with care. Some stories can be shared publicly. Others belong to the people and families being served, and their privacy matters more than a complete list.
