Mark 10:14 in Context: Jesus Welcomes Children

The disciples saw an interruption. Jesus saw children worth welcoming, holding, and blessing.

Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.

Read it in context

People bring children to Jesus, and the disciples rebuke them. Jesus becomes indignant, welcomes the children, and teaches that the kingdom must be received like a little child.

What Scripture says

Children are not background noise in the kingdom. Jesus gives them attention and dignity, and He calls adults to receive God’s reign with dependent trust.

Carry it into today

Make welcome visible to a child today. Listen at eye level, learn their name, protect their dignity, or help a tired parent participate in church life. Small acts can say, “There is room for you here.”

A prayer

Jesus, give us Your welcome. Help our homes and churches make room for children, protect their dignity, and lead them toward Your love with truth and gentleness. Amen.
