Paul describes a gift for fellow believers that meets needs and leads to thanksgiving. He connects generosity with the Corinthians’ confession of the Gospel and with God’s grace at work among them. The surrounding instruction calls for willing, thoughtful giving.
Keep the purpose and the people in view
Before contributing, learn what the collection is for and how the help will reach those it is intended to serve. Clear information supports a thoughtful decision.
If you help organize the giving, communicate accurately and account for what has been entrusted to you. Share verified outcomes while respecting the privacy and dignity of the people receiving support.
Pray for the recipients, the people coordinating the help, and the relationships involved. Gratitude can include the quiet work of those sorting, delivering, and following through.
Choose a contribution that fits your responsibilities and make it willingly. As followers of Jesus, we can care about both the gift and the way it is offered, asking that real needs be met and God be honored through faithful love.
A prayer
Father, guide our giving with wisdom and willing hearts. Help those receiving support, strengthen those organizing it, and make our care dependable. Let the good news of Jesus shape our generosity and lead us together into thanksgiving. Amen.
