Caring for People Who Cannot Repay You
An act of care can be offered freely: a meal, time spent helping, or a useful gift chosen around someone’s actual need. There is beauty in giving a person room simply to receive.
Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

In Luke 6, Jesus calls His listeners to love beyond the circle of people who love them back, including their enemies. He teaches generous action that reflects the Father’s mercy and kindness, reaching beyond expected repayment.
Give with the recipient's good in view
Think about someone you could help without seeking a favor, public praise, or influence in return. Ask what would be useful and listen to the answer.
Choose care appropriate to your responsibilities and capacity. A shared effort through church may meet a need better than one person acting alone.
Offer the help clearly and respectfully. Let the recipient decide whether to accept it, and protect their privacy.
Pray for a generous heart when gratitude is quiet or circumstances are complicated. Following Jesus includes learning to seek another person’s good with sincerity. His mercy gives us a pattern for love that reaches beyond an exchange.

Merciful Father, thank You for the kindness You have shown through Jesus. Help us give thoughtfully and freely. Make our care attentive to real needs, respectful of each person, and generous in spirit. Amen.
