Abigail Chooses Wise Words in a Dangerous Moment
Abigail’s words interrupted a dangerous course of action. David was preparing to shed blood in anger, and she urged him to consider the Lord and the weight of what he was about to do.

First Samuel 25 records Abigail’s urgent intervention with provisions and a careful appeal. David listens, praises God for sending her, and recognizes that her good judgment has kept him from bloodshed and personal vengeance.
Receive wise counsel before anger becomes action
Notice David’s response as well as Abigail’s courage. He allowed another person’s words to change the action he intended to take.
In an ordinary disagreement, pause when anger begins to direct your choices. Give yourself time to listen and seek wise counsel.
Ask whether your next response is truthful, proportionate, and directed toward what is good. A trusted person may help you recognize a course you need to change.
When conflict involves danger, seek appropriate protection and qualified help. Let this account deepen your respect for wisdom that protects life. Bring your anger to Jesus and ask Him to teach you a faithful response.
A prayer
Lord, give us humility to receive wise counsel and courage to change a harmful course. Help us speak with care and seek what protects life. Through Jesus, turn our hearts toward truth, patience, and faithful action. Amen.
