Jonathan Strengthens a Friend's Trust in God
Jonathan went to find David when David was under threat from Saul. The account describes his help in a few memorable words: he strengthened his friend’s trust in God.

First Samuel places this visit during Saul’s pursuit of David. Jonathan speaks about David’s future kingship, and the two renew their covenant before the Lord. His visit offers personal encouragement within that particular moment in Israel’s history.
Help a friend turn toward God
Think of a friend who might welcome encouragement. Ask how they are doing and listen carefully to the answer.
Share a passage that speaks faithfully to their need, reading enough of it to keep the meaning clear. Give room for questions and for the person’s own words.
Offer to pray together. Ask God for wisdom, courage, comfort, or help with the next responsibility, as the situation calls for.
Choose one practical way to remain present: a follow-up conversation, useful help, or shared time with your church community. Let encouragement direct attention toward Jesus and the trustworthy truth of Scripture.
A prayer
Lord, help us become friends who encourage trust in You. Give us patient ears, faithful words, and dependable care. Through Jesus, strengthen the people we love and show us how to support them wisely. Amen.
