Peter Learns That God's Welcome Is Wider Than His Own
Peter enters a home he once would have kept at a distance. What follows is a clear announcement of Jesus and a remarkable moment in the Gospel’s welcome to the nations.
God does not show favoritism

At Cornelius’s house, Peter recognizes that God’s welcome reaches across the division between Jew and Gentile. He proclaims Jesus’ death, resurrection, and the forgiveness received through faith in Him. The Holy Spirit comes upon the listeners, and they are baptized.
Let the Gospel shape whom you welcome
Notice the center of Peter’s message: the risen Jesus, Lord of all. The people gathered in this home are invited to hear and believe in Him.
Consider whose questions or presence you might overlook because their background differs from yours. Ask God to expose favoritism and grow sincere love in its place.
At church, learn a name, make a thoughtful introduction, or ask whether someone needs help following the gathering. Listen with respect to the person’s own experience.
As you speak about Jesus, keep the invitation clear and gracious. The Gospel is good news to share across languages, cultures, and familiar social circles, with every person treated as worthy of attentive care.
A prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for the good news of forgiveness through faith in You. Turn us from favoritism and teach us sincere welcome. Help Your church share the Gospel clearly and care for people across every background. Amen.
