What It Means to Be Adopted Into God's Family
Christian belonging begins with what God has done through His Son. Galatians invites believers to receive that truth with gratitude: in Christ, God has brought them into His family.
God’s child
(Galatians 4:7, NIV, excerpt)
Paul explains that God sent His Son to redeem those under the law so that they might receive adoption. He then describes the Spirit of God’s Son in believers’ hearts and their new standing as God’s children and heirs.
Let belonging shape prayer and shared life
Read the passage slowly and notice the Father, the Son, and the Spirit. The life Paul describes rests on God’s gracious action.
If you belong to Christ, bring your needs to the Father in prayer. Give thanks for redemption and ask Him to grow trust and obedience in you.
Consider the people you worship with as fellow members of God’s family. Learn a name, make time for a conversation, or ask how you can pray for someone.
If you are exploring Christian faith, read this passage with a faithful church leader or Christian friend. Bring your questions about Jesus and the belonging He gives. There is room to learn with care.
A prayer
Father, thank You for sending Your Son and for the gift of Your Spirit. Help us receive Your grace with faith and live as members of Your family. Teach us to pray with trust and to care for one another through Jesus. Amen.
