I am so humbled to be a part of this community, and I'm so glad we get to come together to give back to so many.
I am in tears announcing that June 7th - August 5th, we donated $13,598 to FARE (Food Allergy Research and Education) in honor of our middle son, Rush, who turned 4 June 23rd.
June 19th we went in for Rush’s annual allergy testing, and his new doctor did not want to test him this year. She told us it was very unlikely he will ever outgrow his peanut allergy after review of his previous reactions and test results. If you’ve been following us for a while, you know that God granted us a miracle and Rush outgrew his tree nut allergy at age 3, and we aren't loosing hope. We are continuing to pray bold prayers over Rush that by Jesus’s stripes Rush will be totally healed before us all or that God will move His hand for us in a different way by getting Rush into a clinical trial in our area.
Since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us - Hebrews 12:1
I never thought one of our children would have a peanut allergy. I never thought that it would be flip our world upside down the way that it did. We are so thankful for the Food Allergy Research and Education organization who has educated us and fought for us the and for God for keeping us grounded and full of faith, hope, and boldness through it all. Thank you for helping us raise money for FARE to help others with food allergies.
Now we move on with a new cause on our hearts - helping the communities affected by recent tragedies in Texas, Ohio, California and Mississippi. We will be donating 20% of all orders to Red Cross for the next two weeks. If there are organizations on the ground you'd like us to consider donating to at the end of the month, please e-mail hello@modernburlap.com.
It's not supposed to be this way, and God weeps with us and hears our prayers.
May we move forward reminding one another:
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit” - Psalm 34:18
Keep shining light.

Samantha
