Love is easy when it feels good. When it's returned. When it's appreciated. But there's a kind of love that costs you something. That requires you to give when you're tired. To forgive when you're hurt. To stay when you want to leave.
That's the love God calls us to.
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud." (1 Corinthians 13:4, NIV)
Love is not a feeling. It's a choice. A decision to keep showing up, keep giving, keep forgiving, even when it's hard. Even when it costs you something. Even when you don't feel like it.
I don't think God asks us to love perfectly. I think He asks us to love faithfully. To keep choosing love even when it's difficult.
The love that costs you something is the love that changes things.
Where is God asking you to love today, even when it costs you something?
