Loving When It Costs You
Jesus calls His people to a love that is patient, truthful, forgiving, courageous, and willing to serve.
We are called to love enemies, care for the vulnerable, bear with one another, forgive, and speak the truth in love.
First Corinthians 13 describes love as patient and kind, humble and enduring, and rejoicing with the truth.
That gives Christian love both tenderness and strength. Love can forgive and also speak honestly. It can serve generously and seek wisdom. It can pursue peace and ask for help when a situation is painful, complicated, or unsafe.
Jesus is our clearest picture of love: full of grace and truth, compassionate toward the hurting, faithful to the Father, and willing to lay down His life for His people.
So begin there. Ask Him to make you patient, truthful, forgiving, wise, and brave enough to love the person in front of you well.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, make me patient, truthful, forgiving, and wise. Teach me to love with Your tenderness and courage, and help me obey Your Word faithfully. Amen.
