Psalm 63: Turning Your Longing Toward God
Longing can fill a day with words we struggle to arrange. In Psalm 63, David turns that deep desire toward God and remembers His love in the middle of the night.

The psalm’s heading places David in the Desert of Judah. He longs for God, recalls worship, praises His love, and remembers His help. The song’s confidence rests in the Lord even while David faces danger.
Name the One you are seeking
Read the opening verses as an address to God. David speaks to Him personally, bringing longing into a relationship of worship and trust.
You can tell the Lord what feels unfinished in your life while also asking to know Him more deeply. Let both the request and the desire for His presence have room in your prayer.
Recall something true about Jesus from a Gospel account. Spend a moment with His compassion, authority, or saving work, and let that truth guide your thanks.
If prayer feels difficult, ask a trusted believer to read this psalm with you. Another person’s company can help you remain attentive to God as you bring the day’s longing before Him.

God, help me seek You with an honest heart. Receive the longings I bring and deepen my knowledge of Jesus. Teach me to remember Your love, give thanks for Your help, and remain faithful in the day before me. Amen.
