When a Friend Has a Different Opinion
A friend sees a matter differently, and the conversation begins to tighten. Before deciding how to answer, consider what kind of difference you are discussing and how love should shape your response.

Romans 14 addresses believers’ disagreements about food and conscience. Paul urges them to seek peace and build one another up, remembering the person for whom Christ died. His counsel gives a way to handle disputable practices with care for another believer’s faith.
Understand the concern behind the opinion
Ask your friend to explain what matters to them and listen before describing your own view. You may discover a concern you had not considered.
When the question involves faith, read the relevant Scripture together in context. Distinguish a clear biblical command from a personal practice or a matter that needs further study.
Consider whether a preference can be set aside to help your friend participate with a clear conscience. Seek wise counsel if the issue is difficult to understand.
Keep the conversation honest and considerate. You can allow time for more thought while continuing to offer friendship. Following Jesus includes seeking the other person’s good in the way we reason, listen, and share life.

Lord Jesus, help us speak across differences with humility. Give us clarity in Your Word, respect for one another’s conscience, and wisdom to seek peace. Let our friendship encourage faithful love and growth in You. Amen.
