When Jesus Calls Your Name
Being welcomed can open a door we had almost stopped looking for. In the story of Zacchaeus, Jesus offers that welcome with a purpose: He has come to save.
For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.
(Luke 19:10, NIV)
Zacchaeus was a wealthy chief tax collector who climbed a tree to see Jesus. Jesus looked up, called him by name, and announced that He would stay at his house. The crowd complained about the guest list. At that meal, Zacchaeus spoke of giving to the poor and repaying people he had cheated. Jesus declared that salvation had come to the house.
Let grace reach everyday choices
The kindness of Jesus reaches into the parts of life we might prefer to keep separate from faith. How we treat a customer. What we do with another person’s trust. Whether our generosity reaches someone who needs it.
Zacchaeus’s response gives repentance a visible shape. Receiving Jesus changed the direction of his life, including his relationship with money and his neighbors.
Take a little time today to ask the Lord where your response to His grace could become concrete. There may be a truthful conversation to have, a commitment to honor, or something you can share. Begin with a willing heart and one honest step.
When we welcome others, we can hold that same hopeful posture: Jesus is able to save people and lead them into a changed life.
A prayer
Jesus, thank You for seeking and saving the lost. Help us receive Your grace with joy and let it reshape our choices, our generosity, and our care for others. Amen.
