Our New Addition
Archive note: This is a personal family story from 2017, preserved with gratitude for the season when we welcomed our third son.
On February 28, 2017, at 3:38 p.m., we welcomed Armor Jett Lischka.
The weeks leading to his birth held bed rest, medical questions, hope, fear, and a lot of prayer. I prayed specifically for his health, for wisdom, and for a safe delivery. Matthew 6:6–8 reminded me that our Father already knows what we need before we ask Him.
Armor arrived at 36 weeks and 4 days, healthy and strong, and I received that day with deep gratitude to God. I had prayed, hoped, been cared for, and was profoundly thankful.
We chose the name Armor because we loved its strength and because it reminded us of Ephesians 6:10–18, where Paul tells believers to put on the full armor of God: truth, righteousness, readiness from the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, the Word of God, and prayer.
Jett became his middle name, and Armor became the name that felt right for the little boy we had finally met.
These newborn photographs preserve a day our family will always remember. They were taken by Domus Aurea Portraits by Renee within Armor’s first 24 hours.
I am keeping this story in the Journal because Modern Burlap has always held pieces of our family history alongside the products and words created through the years. Looking back, what remains strongest is gratitude: God met us in the waiting, prayer carried us through the uncertainty, and we welcomed this little boy with so much joy.
