Free Prayer Journal Pages for Adults + Children

Family Faith at Home / Free Prayer Journal Pages for Adults + Children

Make room for a Bible passage, an honest prayer, and the day you are actually living. These reusable prayer journal pages work in a notebook, aloud with a child, or on paper.

Start small

  1. Read. Open a short passage in your Bible. Notice who is speaking, who is listening, and what is happening.
  2. Respond. Choose one or two prompts below. You do not need to fill every space.
  3. Return. Add a dated note later if you want to remember what changed or what you are still praying about.

If you would like a starting passage, read Matthew 6:5-15, where Jesus teaches His disciples about prayer.

Copy these prompts into a notebook or print pages 3-4 of the book.

  • Date and Bible passage: What did I read?
  • What the passage says: What do I notice before applying it to my life?
  • God, thank You for... Name something specific.
  • Here is what is hard... Bring the worry, grief, uncertainty, or ordinary need honestly.
  • Please help... Pray for yourself and for another person.
  • A wrong to confess or a next step to take: Is there an apology to make, help to request, or act of care to offer?

When you come back to this prayer

Record what happened without forcing a tidy ending. You might write: “Still waiting,” “Someone helped with dinner,” or “The situation changed, and I need wisdom for what comes next.” An unanswered request is not proof that you prayed badly.

A prayer page for children

A grown-up can read and write. A child can draw, point, say one word, or listen. Keep personal answers private unless the child wants to share.

  • Something I noticed in the Bible story...
  • Thank You, God, for...
  • Please help me with...
  • Someone we can pray for...
  • A place to draw what I want to remember.

For a day with very little room

Try one sentence: “God, here is what I need help with today.” You can return to the passage and the page another time.

An original prayer to begin: Father, help us come to You honestly. Teach us through Your Word, forgive our sins, and show us how to care for the people in front of us. In Jesus' name, amen.

Keep going

Try seven days with the Lord's Prayer or read seven passages about Jesus together.
