10 Scriptures to Pray Over Your Teenager

Teenagers need room to ask honest questions, grow in wisdom, and learn to follow Jesus from the heart. We can guide them, listen well, and pray without trying to control every outcome.

These ten passages give us clear places to begin. Read each one in your Bible, then pray the short prayer beneath it.

1. Ephesians 1:17-19

Pray that they will know God, not only know about him.

Lord, help my teenager know you personally. Open their heart to the hope, power, and life found in Christ.

2. Colossians 2:6-7

Pray for roots that hold.

Jesus, root their life in you. Build a faith that can grow through questions, change, and pressure.

3. James 1:5

Pray for wisdom.

God, give them wisdom for friendships, school, work, technology, decisions, and the next right step.

4. Galatians 5:22-23

Pray for the Spirit’s fruit.

Holy Spirit, form love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control in them.

5. John 17:15-18

Pray for faithfulness in the world.

Jesus, guard them from evil and send them into the world as someone who belongs to you.

6. Ephesians 4:15

Pray for truth and love together.

Lord, teach them to recognize truth, speak it with love, and receive correction with humility.

7. Proverbs 13:20

Pray for wise friendships.

God, give them friends who strengthen what is good. Help them become that kind of friend too.

8. Micah 6:8

Pray for justice, mercy, and humility.

Lord, shape their choices with what is right, compassionate, and humble before you.

9. 1 Timothy 4:12

Pray that their life will point toward Jesus.

Help them grow in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity. Let their age never make them believe faithful influence must wait.

10. Romans 12:1-2

Pray for a renewed mind.

God, teach them to offer their whole life to you. Renew their thinking so they can recognize what is good and pleasing to you.

A prayer for the parent

Father, make me faithful in the part you have given me. Help me listen before I lecture, correct without shaming, apologize when I am wrong, and keep pointing to the grace of Jesus. Remind me that I can teach and pray, but only you can change a heart. Amen.

The deepest prayer is not that they mirror us, but that they know and follow Jesus faithfully.
