A Prayer for Every Season

Life changes.

Some seasons arrive with joy. Others hold grief, uncertainty, work, waiting, or beginnings we did not expect.

Ecclesiastes 3 observes that human life unfolds through many times and seasons. The passage does not tell us that every event will make sense to us. It reminds us that our lives are lived under God’s sovereign rule, not outside it.

Our circumstances change. God’s character does not.

“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning.”

Lamentations 3:22–23, NIV

These words rise from grief, not ease. Biblical faithfulness does not require us to call every season good. It teaches us to remember that God remains faithful within every season.

A prayer for the season you are in

Faithful God, You know this season completely.

Thank You for every good gift within it. Keep me from receiving Your gifts without remembering the Giver.

Where this season hurts, teach me to lament honestly without losing hope in You.

Where I am waiting, give me patience without passivity. Show me what obedience requires today and what I must entrust to You.

Where change has unsettled me, anchor me in Your Word.

Where life feels abundant, make me generous and grateful.

Where I have sinned, lead me to repentance and remind me of the mercy offered through Jesus.

Where I am tired, provide the help and rest I truly need.

Do not let me turn this season into my identity. My life belongs to Christ.

Give me faithfulness for today. Keep my hope fixed on Jesus, and shape me through Your Word, Your Spirit, and Your people.
