A Prayer for Someone Walking Through Divorce
Divorce can hold grief, anger, relief, fear, unanswered questions, and decisions that affect an entire family. A short prayer cannot simplify what is complicated, but it can bring the truth of this moment before Jesus.
Scripture to begin with
Psalm 34:18 tells us that God is near to the brokenhearted. His nearness does not ask us to rename harm or rush grief.
A prayer through divorce
Jesus, be near in what is breaking. Give this person wisdom for each decision and courage to tell the truth. Guard the children from being used as messengers, leverage, or confidants. Provide trustworthy pastoral, legal, financial, and emotional support where it is needed. Keep anger from becoming cruelty and fear from making every decision. Where repentance and repair are possible, lead clearly. Where safety and firm boundaries are needed, give strength to act. Hold this person close to you through every uncertain step. Amen.
One faithful next step
Choose one qualified, trustworthy person who can help with the next decision. If there is abuse, coercion, or immediate danger, prioritize safety and contact appropriate local support.

Jesus meets people in the truth of what is breaking, not in a polished version of it.
