A Prayer for the Hospital Waiting Room

Hospital waiting rooms can make time feel strange. A few minutes can feel enormous when someone you love is behind a door you cannot enter.
Scripture does not require us to make fear sound polished before we pray. The Psalms repeatedly bring fear and urgent requests directly to God.
Father, I am afraid. I want answers, healing, wisdom, and safety for the person I love.
Please give skill, attention, wisdom, and compassion to every person providing care. Guard against error. Make what needs to be seen clear. Give our family wisdom for decisions we may have to make.
Psalm 23 speaks of the Lord’s shepherding care even through the darkest valley. For those who belong to Christ, Romans 8 says that suffering cannot separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus.
Help me trust what You have actually promised without assuming an outcome You have not promised. Give me strength for the next conversation and wisdom for the next decision.
And when I do not know what to pray, remind me that Romans 8 says the Spirit helps believers in weakness.
