10 Bible Verses for Pregnancy + A Prayer for Expectant Mothers
Pregnancy can hold gratitude, discomfort, anticipation, fear, medical uncertainty, and love all at once. Scripture gives an expectant mother words for trust without asking her to pretend she knows how every part of the story will unfold.
These passages are not formulas or guarantees of a particular pregnancy outcome. They reveal God’s character and give us truthful language for prayer alongside attentive prenatal care.

Psalm 139:13–16 — Life is known by God
David praises God’s intimate knowledge of human life and formation. Receive the passage as worship, not as an explanation for every medical question or loss.
Psalm 121 — Help from the Creator
This song directs our eyes to the Maker of heaven and earth. Pray it before appointments, during long nights, or whenever the responsibility feels larger than your strength.
Isaiah 40:11 — The Shepherd leads gently
Isaiah describes God carrying lambs close and gently leading those with young. His strength and tenderness belong together.
James 1:5 — Wisdom for decisions
Pregnancy can bring decisions about providers, tests, treatment, work, rest, birth, and boundaries. Ask God for wisdom and receive help from qualified professionals and trustworthy people.
Philippians 4:6–7 — Bring anxiety into prayer
Paul invites believers to name their requests before God with thanksgiving. This does not minimize anxiety; it gives each fear a place to go.
Psalm 56:3–4 — Trust when afraid
The psalmist does not say faithful people never feel fear. Fear becomes the moment to turn deliberately toward God.
2 Corinthians 12:9 — Grace in weakness

A prayer for pregnancy
Jesus, hold this mother and this little life.
Thank You for seeing what is hidden and knowing what we cannot yet know. Give this mother wise care, nourishing food, needed rest, honest support, and courage for every appointment and decision.
Strengthen her body and steady her heart. Meet her in joy without making her afraid to enjoy it, and meet her in fear without letting fear tell the whole story. Protect her from shame, comparison, and the pressure to perform pregnancy perfectly.
Give wisdom and attentiveness to every physician, midwife, nurse, technician, and person involved in her care. Bring clarity when something needs attention and humility to seek help promptly.
Prepare the people around her to serve practically. Give her freedom to receive help, to set healthy boundaries, and to speak truthfully about what she needs.
