Jesus Prays for His People to Be One
A community can help someone understand the Christian faith through the way its people love one another. Patient conversations, shared care, and a warm welcome can make that love visible.

Before His arrest, Jesus prayed for His disciples and for those who would believe through their message. He asked the Father for their unity and connected that unity with the world recognizing that the Father had sent Him. He prayed that His people would know the Father’s love and be with Him to see His glory.
Tend the relationships within Christ’s people
The unity Jesus prayed for is rooted in life with Him and the Father. It has a shared center in the Gospel His disciples would proclaim.
Consider one relationship in your Christian community that could use thoughtful attention. Perhaps you can listen more carefully, pray with someone, or help with a need you have noticed. If a disagreement has become personal, ask for wisdom to speak truth with humility.
You can also celebrate the gifts of believers whose experiences differ from yours. Learn what they are carrying and how you might encourage their faith.
Jesus’ prayer invites us to treat love within His church as something precious. Every patient act of care can contribute to a community where people are helped to see Him more clearly.
A prayer
Father, unite Your people in the truth and love of Jesus. Help us care for one another faithfully, and let our life together bear witness to the Son You sent. Amen.
