Making Room for Single Adults in Church Life
Think about the last invitation you offered at church. Was there room for someone coming on their own? A thoughtful welcome can begin with something as ordinary as remembering one more name.

In 1 Corinthians 7, Paul discusses marriage and singleness during a difficult time. He recognizes their different responsibilities and values devotion to the Lord. His counsel gives singleness an honored place in the Christian life, alongside his affirmation that marrying is good.
Offer friendship that knows the whole person
Ask about the person’s interests, work, friendships, and life with Jesus. Let them decide whether they want to discuss dating or marriage. There is already a whole life worth knowing.
Include single adults in meals, celebrations, prayer, and decisions that shape your shared church life. Invite them to contribute their gifts while respecting their time and other responsibilities.
If you are single, you can bring your hopes and questions to the Lord while taking your place among His people today. Your care, wisdom, and presence matter in the relationships He has given you.
Start with one sincere invitation and follow through. Shared life often grows through the ordinary kindness of remembering, including, and making time for one another.
A prayer
Lord Jesus, help our church honor every person who belongs to You. Give us thoughtful invitations and lasting friendships. Encourage single adults in devotion to You, and teach us to share life with warmth and respect. Amen.
