Making Space for a Friendship to Grow Slowly
You enjoy someone’s company and would like to know them better. You can begin with a small invitation and let the relationship have time to become familiar.

Paul recalls the tender care he and his fellow workers offered the Thessalonian believers. Their sharing of the Gospel was accompanied by shared life, responsible labor, and encouragement to live worthily of God. Their example shows love expressed through personal, faithful attention.
Make the next invitation simple and sincere
Suggest a manageable way to spend time together: a short walk, a conversation after church, or an easy meal. Be clear about the invitation and considerate of the other person’s responsibilities.
Share something ordinary about your life and ask about theirs. Trust can develop through repeated conversations in which both people have room to listen and speak.
Keep the arrangements you make, and communicate honestly when plans need to change. Let each person choose the pace and depth of what they share.
Ask Jesus to form patience and generosity in the relationship. A growing friendship can become a place to pray, learn, and encourage one another in faith through the simple practice of sharing life with care.
A prayer
Jesus, guide the friendships that are beginning to grow. Give us patient invitations, honest words, and respect for one another’s time. Help us share life in ways that encourage faith and reflect Your love. Amen.
