Priscilla Helps Explain the Way of God

It can feel vulnerable to learn that our understanding has room to grow. Priscilla and Aquila offer a picture of teaching that gives another person careful attention and a fuller grasp of God’s way.

Apollos knows the Scriptures and speaks about Jesus with enthusiasm, but his knowledge of baptism is limited to John’s. Priscilla and Aquila invite him into their home and explain more fully. He goes on to help believers and show from Scripture that Jesus is the Messiah.

Bring clarity with a welcoming posture

When a conversation about faith reveals a gap, take time to understand the question. Open the passage together and pay attention to its setting and message.

If you can help, explain patiently. If you need help, receive it with humility. Learning in the church can be a shared act of love.

Choose a setting that allows a real conversation. A person may find it easier to ask follow-up questions when they feel respected and have time to think.

Keep the aim clear: growing in the knowledge of Jesus and faithfully understanding Scripture. Thank God for people who help you learn, and consider how you can offer that same thoughtful care to someone else.

A prayer

Jesus, give us teachable hearts and careful words. Help us understand Scripture more faithfully and explain it with kindness. Bless those who teach and those who are learning, and draw our attention toward You. Amen.
