Speaking Honestly With Someone You Love
You need to say something important to someone you love. Begin by asking what would help the conversation be truthful, useful, and attentive to the person receiving your words.

Ephesians 4 describes Christ equipping His people to grow in shared faith and maturity. Truth spoken in love belongs within that growth, with Jesus as the head of the body. The passage directs Christian speech toward strengthening people in Him.
Prepare to speak clearly and to hear a response
Choose a suitable time and describe the concern specifically. Stay with what you know and explain why it matters. Ask a question that gives the other person room to add what you may be missing.
Examine your own part with humility. If there is something you need to acknowledge or apologize for, say it clearly.
Let care shape both the tone and the next step. Some conversations need time, a second meeting, or help from a trusted person with the right responsibility and skill.
Pray for words that serve growth in Christ. Honest love can include encouragement, correction, and patient listening, offered with a willingness to learn and a sincere desire for the other person’s good.

Jesus, shape my heart before I speak. Give me truthful words, humility about my own part, and patience to listen. Help this conversation serve what is good and lead us toward faithful love in You. Amen.
