When a Good Season Comes to an End

A good season can be hard to leave precisely because it has been good. There may be people to thank, ordinary moments to remember, and a new rhythm to learn.

this is the gift of God.

Ecclesiastes reflects on the changing times of human life and the limits of our understanding. Within those limits, it commends receiving ordinary good as God’s gift, doing good while we live, and honoring His enduring work.

Let gratitude accompany the change

Name something specific you received in this season: a friendship, a chance to learn, meaningful work, or time shared with people you love.

Thank God for that good and, where appropriate, tell another person what you appreciate. A clear word of gratitude can honor the season as it closes.

Consider what needs a thoughtful handover or farewell. Finish an agreed responsibility and make room for the people affected by the change.

Then notice one good thing available today. As you follow Jesus, gratitude for what has been can accompany faithful attention to what is before you now.

A prayer

Father, thank You for the good gifts of this season. Help us mark its ending with gratitude and care. Through Jesus, guide our attention toward the people and responsibilities before us as a new rhythm begins. Amen.
