When Someone Else Receives the Promotion
You hoped for the opportunity, and someone else received it. You can feel disappointed while deciding how to respond to your coworker with honesty and respect.

Philippians 2 calls believers to live out their salvation as God works in them. Paul urges them to turn from grumbling and hold firmly to the message of life. This follows his account of Christ’s humility and gives Christian conduct its deeper source.
Bring the disappointment to God and choose a thoughtful response
Name your hopes honestly in prayer. Ask Jesus to help you recognize envy or resentment and turn toward the good you can do today.
Offer a sincere congratulations without adding praise you do not mean. A brief, gracious acknowledgment can honor the person’s opportunity while giving you time to process your own feelings.
When appropriate, arrange a separate conversation about your development. Ask for clear feedback and consider useful next steps with someone whose judgment you trust.
Continue treating your coworker as a person worthy of respect. God’s work in His people reaches these quiet choices, where faith is practiced in what we say, how we listen, and how we carry responsibility together.

Father, You know the hope I brought to this opportunity. Help me receive this moment honestly and turn from envy. Give me generosity toward my coworker, wisdom for my development, and faithfulness in following Jesus today. Amen.
