A Prayer for Missionaries and Those They Serve
A missionary update can arrive while you are moving through an ordinary day. You may read a name, a place, and a request for prayer. Those few details can become a meaningful connection with fellow believers far away.
that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored,
(2 Thessalonians 3:1, NIV, excerpt)
In 2 Thessalonians 3, Paul asked the church to pray that the Lord’s message would spread and be honored. He also requested deliverance from evil people, affirmed the Lord’s faithfulness, and prayed for the believers’ hearts to be directed into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance.
Let a real request guide your prayer
Choose an update shared through your church or a ministry you know. Read carefully for what the people themselves ask others to pray about. Keep private details within the boundaries they have given.
Pray for faithful teaching of the Gospel, strength for daily work, wise relationships, and the people hearing about Jesus. Remember local believers who serve their own communities alongside those who have traveled to help.
If an update names a practical need, consider whether your church can respond together. Language study, childcare, transportation, and ordinary supplies can all be part of serving well when the ministry identifies them as useful.
You can place a reminder beside your Bible and return to the request this week. Prayer helps us participate attentively in the wider life of Christ’s church.
A prayer
Lord, strengthen those sharing the Gospel today. Give them wisdom, protection, humility, and perseverance. Help the people they serve hear and honor the good news of Jesus. Teach us to support Your church with attentive love. Amen.
