Praying for the People Who Teach Your Church

Someone is preparing to open Scripture with your church this week. It may be a pastor, a small-group leader, or a volunteer teaching children. You can support that work before the gathering begins.

Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should.

(Colossians 4:4, NIV)

Writing from imprisonment, Paul asked the Colossians to pray for opportunities to proclaim Christ and for clarity in his message. Around that request, he encouraged watchful, thankful prayer and gracious conduct toward others. The Gospel’s messenger welcomed the church’s help through prayer.

Pray for clarity and faithfulness

Paul’s request gives us a useful way to pray for those who teach today. Ask that they understand the passage carefully, speak truthfully about Jesus, and help listeners respond with faith and obedience.

Choose one person who teaches in your church. Bring their name before God. Pray for patience in preparation, humility in handling Scripture, and love for the people they serve.

You can also ask how to offer practical support. A children’s volunteer may need help arranging a room; a group leader may appreciate someone welcoming newcomers. Offer what you can realistically do.

When you gather, listen with your Bible open. Bring your own heart ready to learn and respond. The church grows in a shared life of hearing God’s Word, praying for one another, and putting love into practice.

A prayer

Father, help those who teach our church handle Your Word faithfully. Give them clarity, humility, and love. Prepare our hearts to hear, and lead us together toward trust and obedience to Jesus. Amen.
