A Prayer of Confession You Can Begin Today
Sometimes the most honest beginning is simply, “Lord, I was wrong.” We can bring the truth of our sin into prayer and ask God for the mercy and change we need.
Create in me a pure heart, O God,

Psalm 51 is connected to Nathan confronting David after his sin involving Bathsheba. David appeals to God’s compassion, acknowledges his wrongdoing, and asks for cleansing and a renewed heart. His prayer reaches beyond relief from guilt toward a life made willing to obey.
Begin with an honest sentence
Christians bring confession to God with hope in Jesus, who gave Himself for sinners. You can name what you did plainly: a lie, a cruel remark, a selfish choice. Ask for forgiveness and help to turn from it.
Consider the next faithful action. That may mean telling the truth, apologizing without shifting blame, returning something, or seeking wise help with a repeated pattern. Where others have been harmed, their well-being deserves careful attention.
You do not need to explain your private situation publicly to pray sincerely. A trusted pastor or mature believer may be able to support you in taking responsibility.

A prayer
Merciful Father, I confess my sin to You. Forgive me through Jesus, renew my heart, and help me turn toward obedience. Give me humility to take responsibility and care for those affected by my choices. Amen.
