Beginning Again After Failure
Some mornings really do feel like a beginning.
Lamentations gives us one of Scripture’s most beloved pictures of new mercy in the middle of one of its darkest books. The writer is looking at devastation, yet in the middle of grief he remembers the steadfast love and faithfulness of the Lord.
“His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22–23, NIV
Biblical hope is strong enough for the morning after a hard day, a failure, a loss, or a season we wish had gone differently. It rests on the character of God.
His compassion is new. His faithfulness has not changed. In Christ, there is mercy for repentance, grace for the weary, and hope for the next faithful step.
Bring yesterday honestly before Him. Confess what needs confessing. Make repair where you can. Receive His mercy. Then walk with Him into the day in front of you.
What would it look like to receive God’s new mercy this morning?
