Ananias Takes a Faithful Step Toward Saul

Ananias has heard frightening things about Saul, and he tells the Lord so. His conversation in Acts 9 makes room for an honest concern and a very specific call to obey.

Then Ananias went to the house

(Acts 9:17, NIV, excerpt)

Jesus directs Ananias in a vision to visit Saul and explains Saul’s future work of proclaiming His name. Ananias goes, addresses him as a brother, and lays hands on him. Saul regains his sight, is baptized, and receives food.

Bring concern into a faithful response

Read this particular calling with attention to Jesus’ authority and His work in Saul’s life. Ananias responds to what the Lord has clearly told him.

In our daily discipleship, we have Christ’s teaching in Scripture to guide us. Name one instruction you understand and consider a faithful way to put it into practice.

You might need to tell the truth, offer practical help, or ask someone’s forgiveness. Pray about the concern that makes the step difficult and seek wise support from trusted believers.

Let the next step be concrete and responsible. Following Jesus can include honest prayer, careful preparation, and help from His people as we learn to obey what He has taught.

A prayer

Lord Jesus, help me receive Your teaching and respond faithfully. You know the concerns I carry. Give me courage shaped by Your truth, wisdom in my actions, and trustworthy people to walk beside me. Amen.
