Beginning a New Ministry Responsibility With Dependence on God
Saying yes to serving at church can bring both gratitude and questions. There may be names to learn, training to complete, and people whose needs deserve careful attention. This is a good place to begin with prayer.

Paul describes his confidence in ministry as coming through Christ. He credits God with making him and his fellow workers ministers of the new covenant, where the Spirit gives life. His words direct our attention to the Lord who makes gospel ministry possible.
Begin with prayer and a willingness to learn
As you begin your own service, ask Jesus to shape your motives. The people you serve need faithful care, and the good news you share belongs to Him.
Learn the responsibilities and safeguards of your role. Ask experienced leaders for guidance, welcome training, and speak honestly about the help you need.
Choose a simple rhythm of preparation: read Scripture, pray for those you will serve, and review what you have been asked to do. Leave time to listen to the people beside you.
When you receive encouragement, thank God and acknowledge the people who helped. When you receive correction, consider it with humility. Dependence on Jesus can grow alongside patient, responsible learning.
A prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for the grace that makes serving You possible. Give me a teachable heart, careful preparation, and sincere love for the people entrusted to this ministry. Help our church serve together in dependence on You. Amen.
