Letting Love Become an Action Someone Can Receive
You may already know someone you want to encourage. The next question can be simple: What would help them today? An answer to that question can turn a kind intention into care they can actually receive.

First John points to Jesus laying down His life as the measure of love. It then confronts withholding compassion when a fellow believer has a material need. Faith in Christ and love for one another belong together in the life John describes.
Choose one useful act of love
Begin by listening. Ask what would make the day more manageable, or offer a specific kind of help the person can accept or decline.
Choose an action you can complete. You might provide a needed item, share time, help with a task, or connect the person with trustworthy support.
Follow through carefully. Confirm the practical details and protect the person’s privacy. If you offered to pray, pause and pray.
Let the love of Jesus shape your motives as well as your action. Care becomes clearer when it is truthful, dependable, and attentive to the person receiving it.
A prayer
Jesus, thank You for laying down Your life for us. Grow Your love in our hearts and in our actions. Help us notice real needs, give with sincerity, and follow through with care. Make our shared life a faithful response to Your grace. Amen.
