Zechariah 7 addresses people asking about religious fasting. God recalls His call to justice and compassion, including care for widows, orphans, foreigners, and the poor. The chapter also confronts hardened hearts that refused to listen.
Let worship shape the way you treat people
Bring your heart before God as you read. Ask whether there is someone whose needs you have dismissed too quickly.
Choose a thoughtful way to learn more. A private conversation, careful question, or trusted community partnership can help you understand what care is needed.
Respond truthfully. Offer what you can follow through on, treat people fairly, and seek appropriate help when a need is beyond your role.
Return to Jesus for grace to obey. Let prayer lead into concrete compassion, and let the care of your church be shaped by both sincere worship and attention to vulnerable neighbors.

Lord, soften our hearts to Your word. Forgive indifference and teach us truthful, practical mercy. Through Jesus, help our worship bear fruit in fair treatment, patient listening, and dependable care for our neighbors. Amen.
