Supporting Good Work Beyond Your Own Circle
Someone is serving in a place you may never visit. You can still take a thoughtful part in the work by learning about it, praying, and offering support that is actually useful.
so that we may work together for the truth.

The elder commends Gaius for caring for believers who travel for the sake of Christ’s name. He encourages hospitality that makes supporters fellow workers for the truth. The letter also addresses the harm caused by a leader who refuses welcome and seeks to be first.
Learn before you offer support
Listen to a clear account of the work: who is serving, what they teach, how people are cared for, and what help is needed. A trusted church can help you evaluate an opportunity thoughtfully.
Ask which contribution would be useful and how it will be handled. Support may include practical supplies, hospitality, an appropriate gift, or prayer for requests the workers have chosen to share.
Keep the people being served in view. Respect their privacy and dignity when learning about or describing the work.
Then offer what you can responsibly sustain. Ask Jesus for humility to value faithful service beyond your own familiar circle and for wisdom to encourage work grounded in the truth of His Gospel.
A prayer
Lord Jesus, strengthen those serving faithfully in Your name. Give us discernment about the work we support and generosity in the help we offer. Let truth, humility, and care guide our shared service. Amen.
