The Courage to Be Honest

Maybe you've been pretending. Smiling when you're not okay. Saying you're fine when you're not. Holding it together because you think that's what you're supposed to do.

But I don't think God needs our pretending. I think He needs our honesty.

"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." (Psalm 34:18, NIV)

You don't have to hide your struggle from God. You don't have to clean yourself up before you come to Him. You don't have to wait until you feel stronger or more faithful or more together. He is close to the brokenhearted. He is near to the ones who are crushed.

Honesty is not a lack of faith. It's the beginning of it. It's saying, "This is where I am. This is what I feel. And I need You."

You don't have to be okay to be loved by God. You just have to be honest.

What do you need to be honest with God about today?
