Made for Good Works

I love the things in a home that show evidence of being loved.

The cutting board with knife marks. The blanket washed so many times it has become softer. The mug you keep reaching for even though it is no longer perfect.

They remind me that a faithful life is often lived in ordinary, well-used places.

Ephesians 2:8–10 tells us that salvation is God’s gift of grace through faith, and that in Christ we are His workmanship, created for good works He prepared for us.

Grace comes first. Then we get to walk in the good He places before us.

A meal made for someone who is hurting.

A child listened to when you are tired.

A prayer whispered while folding laundry.

A hard truth spoken with gentleness.

A gift quietly given.

A task completed with integrity when no one is watching.

Good works are the fruit of a life held by grace. They can be quiet, unseen, strong, tender, practical, and beautifully ordinary.

What good work has God placed in front of you today?

Jesus, thank You for saving us by grace. Make me willing and joyful in the good You place before me, and let my life reflect Your love. Amen.
