12 Bible Verses for Fear and Anxiety + A Prayer
Fear and anxiety can make every possibility feel urgent. Scripture does not shame a frightened heart or promise that faithful people will never feel afraid. It repeatedly turns us toward God’s presence, character, wisdom, and care.
These passages are places to return when your thoughts are racing, a diagnosis is uncertain, someone you love is in danger, or you simply need enough light for the next step.

1. Psalm 56:3: trust in the middle of fear

3. Psalm 46:1: refuge and strength

- Name what is true. Write the fear in one honest sentence.

- Ask for the next faithful step. Wisdom may look like prayer, rest, making a call, asking for help, or taking action.
- Let someone in. Fear grows in secrecy. Tell a trusted person what you are carrying.
- Seek appropriate care. Persistent or overwhelming anxiety deserves compassionate support from a qualified health professional as well as spiritual care.
A prayer when you are afraid
Father, You know what I am afraid of and how quickly my thoughts run ahead. Be my refuge and strength. Give me wisdom for what I need to do, courage for the next step, and grace to entrust what I cannot control to You.
