Black brush lettering on ivory handmade paper: “The risen Jesus cared enough to make breakfast.”

Jesus Makes Breakfast for Tired Disciples

There is a particular kindness in being offered a meal when you are tired. Someone has noticed that you need to sit down and eat. The care is tangible, right there on a plate.

Come and have breakfast.

(John 21:12, NIV, excerpt)

After His resurrection, Jesus appeared beside the Sea of Galilee while several disciples were fishing. Their night had produced no catch. At His direction, they cast the net again and caught an abundance of fish. On shore, they found a charcoal fire with fish and bread. The risen Lord invited them to breakfast.

Let care become something someone can receive

John gives us this lovely, concrete scene of Jesus with His disciples. The One who had conquered death was there beside the fire, sharing food with His friends.

As we follow Him, ordinary acts of care can have a meaningful place in our love for others. Consider someone who has been working hard or carrying a full week. Ask whether a meal, a cup of coffee, or help with one task would be welcome.

Keep the offer specific and easy to answer. Check food needs before bringing something. Give them room to receive the kindness in the way that helps them most.

And when someone offers that care to you, there may be grace in accepting it. Life together includes both serving and being served. We can thank Jesus for the people who help make His love tangible.

A prayer

Risen Jesus, thank You for the care You showed Your disciples. Help us notice ordinary needs and offer practical love with humility, warmth, and joy. Amen.
